Help bees: Participate in the Great Sunflower Project
The Great Sunflower Project has some new ways to get involved: Take the Pollinator Habitat Challenge, join the Safe Gardens for Pollinators Program or collect data for the study from plants in your own yard.
Visit their website for all of the details. They also have lots of resources about pollinators, pesticides that affect them, and how to have a pollinator-friendly garden. A pollinator gallery will show you the many different kinds of bees that may visit (plus hummingbirds!)
The project is sponsored by San Francisco State University to research how to help pollinators in urban, suburban and rural landscapes.
